HEADTEACHER HOMEWORK
This came about as a result of a number of children and parents asking for more homework. As you are aware, our homework system is based upon encouraging independant learning and self moderation. This extra homework is much the same. However, it will not follow subject areas specifically. Most of the tasks will be open ended research tasks with a final product which can be displayed. I am hoping to receive enough to create my own display board of great quality, independant work.
There are no time limits or set times for completion. I will mark and give stars for the work. I will maintain a record of all those that complete the tasks and maybe maintain a roll of honour for completion.
It really is down to the children to make the most of another opportunity to extend their learning.
TASK ONE
Mad Machines
Design and produce some accurate labelled diagrams of a new machine. It can be a regular machine such as a car, bike or robot or it can be a new machine which does a new job for us. You can get some idea of the way you can present your work at Car Designs and some ideas about machines at Machines at Work.
*******WELL DONE TO GEORGE FOR BEING THE FIRST TO COMPLETE A HT HOMEWORK********
TASK TWO
Call a Vet!
Find out about the kind of activities a vet has to do in a normal week. Then write a weeks diary describing what you do. Write the diary in the first person as if you are the vet. You can be a vet in any area dealing with pets, zoo animals, farm animals or wild animals. You can find more information at Becoming a Vet and Life as a Vet.
TASK THREE
Help for Haiti
Investigate the full extent of the recent natural disater in Haiti. Find out why it happened and how it devastated the country. Put together a fact file about the country explaining what happened, why and the full impact of the disaster. What can we do to help? This BBC news report may help, it is from the day of the disaster. These are links to the aid agencies, OXFAM and UNICEF.
