AUTUMN TERM 2009

The purpose of this project was to learn about the waste that we create in our lives and how it is creating a global problem. The pupils from the 6 participating schools met at St Felix School where the learned about how we create and deal with waste. In the afternoon they had the opportunity to work with established artists who use rubbish as part of their art work!.

Back in school our pupils had a whole day wih Jenny Nutbeam, who helped them to design and make bags and jewellery using discarded items.

We made bags from used bubble wrap and jewellery from odd items including old bicycle inner tubes.

All the schools brought their work to "The Alternative Christmas Fair" at Beccles Middle School where there was an opportunity to share our learning and sell our goods for charity.

Our stall made £30 for Oxfam Unwrapped and Water-Aid.

The 15 children involved in the project will be talking to the whole school on Thursday 10th December in assembly in order to explain what they have learned. They will be passing on some shocking facts about rubbish and some useful tips about "Reducing, Re-using and Recycling".
